Radio Lloret

On Tuesday, some children went to Radio Lloret to talk about the English Week. Arnau, Roger, Claudia, Juliet, Yaiza, Carla, Oskar, Mª Carmen and Sol had the chance to visit the radio and learn a lot about how it works. After some advice, they sat down and answered the questions the reporter asked them. They all had so much fun! Good job kids! (you can listen to the podcast here)

This year we have celebrated the English Week's 10th anniversary. It's been a great success! Children did their best ever in the festivals! Many parents came to school to tell a story or sing a song and we really appreciate it. We would like to thank all parents and teachers for their unconditional support throughout these 10 years. Passion For Fashion

We had sooo much fun today at school. We watched an English play at our school's main hall. It is called "Passion For Fashion". We really enjoyed it from the very beginning. Check out the photos below!

The Happy Prince Play

Early morning today, we went to the theatre. 4th, 5th and 6th grade were ready to watch a play called The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde. We loved it! However, the ending was quite sad. Back at school we talked about feelings, likes and dislikes... Ask your child about it at home.

Last week we did Maths in English. I presented the lesson asking the children the question; Do Taller People Have Bigger Feet? We started a discussion and after measuring one another and taking notes we came to an agreement; some short people have big feet too. We had a wonderful afternoon. Check the slideshow below.

Our Letters Are On Their Way!

In 5th grade, we've already started a Pen pal project. We're practicing our writing skills while meeting new friends. We are starting a cultural pen pal exchange with a school in California (the USA). We wrote our first letter in class. We're sending them to our friends in Chico (Butte) by the end of the week. On Friday, they'll be on their way to you! Let us know as soon as you get the package!

English Notebooks in 5th grade

These are the notebooks children came up with once I gave them a little picture to start their drawings. Some are quite amazing! I'm really proud on how the activity turn out in the end. Have a look and tell me what you think!

Scones For Breakfast

Today I really enjoyed my breakfast. Look at these delicious scones Pol brought at school; strawberry jam and butter, too! The best scones ever! So yummy! Thanks Pol!

Scones are an English breakfast biscuit. They are slightly sweet, and very tender. Generally, they are made with cream, and can have raisins, or other dried fruits. If you want to make them at home try the recipe below.

• SCONES
  
  Ingredients
  225g/8oz self raising flour
• pinch of salt
• 55g/2oz butter
• 25g/1oz caster sugar
• 150ml/5fl oz milk
• 1 free-range egg, beaten, to glaze (alternatively use a little milk)
  
  
  Preparation method
  1) Heat the oven to 220ºC/425F. Lightly grease a baking sheet.
  
  
  2) Mix together the flour and salt and rub in the butter.
  
  
  3) Stir in the sugar and then the milk to get a soft dough.
  
  
  4) Turn on to a floured work surface and knead very lightly. Pat out to a round 2cm/¾in thick. Use a 5cm/2in cutter to stamp out rounds and place on a baking sheet. Lightly knead together the rest of the dough and stamp out more scones to use it all up.
  
  
  5) Brush the tops of the scones with the beaten egg. Bake for 12-15 minutes until well 
  risen and golden.
